About the Organising Institution:

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) occupies a unique position amongst universities and institutions of higher learning in the country. It was established in 1920 and evolved out of the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College was set up in 1877 by the great visionary and social reformer, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. The Aligarh Muslim University is the realization of a vision which was broad, far-reaching and realistic. The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest law faculty in India and has produced illustrious alumni serving both at the Bench and the Bar, including the former Supreme Court Judges such as Mr. Justice Baharul Islam, Mr. Justice Murtaza Fazle Ali, Mr. R.P. Sethi.

About the Essay Writing Competition:    

The All India Independence Day Essay Writing Competition is organized by the Law Society under the aegis of the Faculty of Law, AMU to promote awareness amongst law students about the Uniform Civil Code and Gender Justice.

Topic:

Uniform Civil Code and Gender Justice

Eligibility Criteria:

 Students enrolled in any Undergraduate course in India.

Submission Guidelines:

·        The essay should be the original and unpublished work of the author.

·        Word Limit- 2500-3000 words

·        Font- Times New Roman

·        Font Size- 12 (Main Text), 10 (Footnotes)

·        Line Spacing: 1.5

·        Submissions with more than 30% plagiarized content shall be automatically disqualified.

·       The essays should be sent via email to 16.moiz@gmail.com with the Subject ‘Submission of Essay’ in the MS Word format latest by 11:59 p.m. IST, 15 August 2020

 Prizes:

Winner- INR 600

Runner-Up- INR 400

·        The winners shall also be given the Certificate of Merit certifying their position in the order of merit.

·        All participants shall receive a Certificate of Participation.

Note:

The decision of the Organizing Committee as regards interpretation and application of the rules of the competition shall be final and binding upon all the participants.
