The Jharkhand High Court today dismissed the petition filed against the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT) notified by National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore, instead of CLAT for admission this year. Earlier, on 3rd September, NLSIU issued notification not to accept the CLAT Score for admission this year.

The Single Judge Bench of Justice Rajesh Shankar, raised concern over territorial jurisdiction. The petition was dismissed with the following remark then.

"Since the matter has pan-India ramifications, we deem it fit not to interfere with the notification dated September 3."

The petition prayed for quashing of the notification on the ground of being violative of clause 15.7 of the bye-laws of the Consortium of National Law Universities, violating the rights of the petitioners to have an examination in a just and fair manner; and being illegal and arbitrary.

The NLAT is already scheduled for tomorrow i.e. on 12th September to be conducted in 3 slots.
