Security check days before the shoot out of Gangster Jitender Mann Alias Gogi

  • Under the Chairmanship of a judge a security review was made in all the districts courts of Delhi where it was suggested that frisking and checking of lawyers should be made in the court premises.

  • It was seen that Rohini court has the least number of CCTV cameras as out of 90 CCTV cameras one wasn’t functional.

  • The security of all the seven district courts is to be handled by the district police where the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court are to be handled by the separate unit of Delhi Police.

  •  A senior advocate remarked that to ensure safety of the lower courts we need to take up certain measures like installation of Radio Frequency Identification machines, Facial Recognition Systems, Vehicle Scanning systems and CISF should be handed over with the duty of security check.

  • Senior Advocate Vikas Singh said that , “this shootout was a result of huge intelligence failure” as the police should have known that plans might be prepared against the gangster.


Lawyers on strike on all district courts of Delhi until proper security measures aren’t installed

  • Lawyers have abstained from working in all the district courts of Delhi and demanded for proper security measures.

  • Sanjeev Nasiar, spokesperson of the Coordination Committee of all District Courts Bar Associations of Delhi said that no work happened since the shootout and only urgent matters such as bail and custody extensions as layers did not appear before the judges.

  • In response to the FIR, Sub-Inspector Vir Singh , who was part of the security team and was also in fire exchange said that, “several innocent people could have lost their lives if there was no immediate police retaliation against the two armed assailants as they were shooting indiscriminately”.

  • Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) is handling the incident in the meantime until it is being handled by the crime branch.


Two assailants of the Gogi’s shootout incident has been arrested

  • The arrest of the two assailants Rahul and Jagdeep have been made by the Special Cell of Delhi Police who killed Gogi.

  • It is inferred that the two assailants were from the rival group of Gogi ‘Tillu Tajpur’. The investigation is still on its way.



Traders warned of increase in illegal sale of liquor

  • Delhi Liquor Traders said that, if more than 260 private- run shops of liquor will close from October 1 then it can result in the heavy black marketing of liquor. Naresh Goel, President of the Traders’ has raised this issue with the Delhi government but no reply was achieved so far.

  • Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishnan said that, the government wants to pull out trade in the city and private players who won new bids for liquor will open the stores from November 17 , till then only government-run stores will operate as all the steps are for smooth sale of liquor in Delhi.  


Man acquitted from the charges of abducting and raping a minor

  • The Bombay High Court acquitted as man from the charges of abduction and rape of a minor as the Court held that, the relationship between them was consensual.

  • The case was of 2015, when the minor was studying in Class IX and even the prosecution failed to prove that the victim was a minor.

  • The girl’s brother also stated that the man was 27 years old at the time of the incident and his sister was 5 years younger to the man.


TTD leader files caveat in Supreme Court 

  • TTD leader M. Uma Maheswara Naidu of Andhra Pradesh  filed a caveat in the Supreme Court  with regard to the High Court’s order to the State Government to keep under suspension the 52 individuals as special invitees to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board.

  • The Division Bench was of the Prime facie opinion that Section 96(1) of AP Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act of 1987 had no provisions for special invitees.

  • The petitioner's argument here was that, since the TTD Board cannot have more than 29 members (including the chairman), the Government issued the said orders for a coterminous period with the tenure of the Board and providing them with the same protocol par with the members.


Supreme Court showed up security concerns after the courtroom firing at Rohini

  • The centre has rejected the suggestion by the Supreme Court to form a ‘special force’ centrally for the protection of court complexes and judges across India.

  • A Bench led by CJI N.V Ramana has expressed doubts regarding the security measures provided inside the court complexes. Mr. Mehta had also argued regarding the problems of security measures that vary from state to state.

  • The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance in regard to the violence committed in the court complexes following the murder of a judge ‘Uttam Anand’ in Jharkhand.


Quad Leaders Summit to counter Afghan- origin terror

  • The quad leaders comprising of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Ministers Scott Morrison of Australia and Yoshihide Suga in their join statement declared that they would closely coordinate their ‘diplomatic, economic and human rights policies’ towards Afghanistan and they will also deepen their counter terrorism and humanitarian cooperation there in accordance with the United Nations Security Council 2593 (a resolution passed on August 30, when India held the presidency of the Council)

  • The resolution seeks a negotiation and settlement in Afghanistan and calls for the country not to be used as a base to nurture terrorism.

  • A new infrastructure partnership is also launched by the quad which would include mapping the region’s infrastructure needs and it will also be providing technical assistance and evaluation tools for projects.


China frees two Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig after the Huawei deal

  • China’s Government had refused that the more than 1,000 day imprisonment of the two Canadians was part of their hostage diplomacy as alleged by the Canadians.

  • The two Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig were detained in 2018, shortly after the arrest of Canada’s top Executive Meng Wangzhou at Vancouver Airport based on U.S warrant , under the then Trump administration, accusing the Chinese telecom company of violating Iran sanctions.

  • The detention of the two Canadians came to a sudden end after Ms Meng was released after the United States Department reached a deal regarding the criminal charges agreeing to a deferred prosecution and for her to leave Canada.

  • Mr said that, “ the two men have gone through an unbelievably difficult ordeal but for the past 1,000 days they have shown strife, perseverance, resilience and grace”.
