About Internship

WIPO’s Traditional Knowledge Division is seeking an intern to work at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland from early 2022. The Internship is expected to last for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility for renewal of up to a duration of 12 months maximum.

Eligibility

Ideally, the candidate would have a 

  • -background in intellectual property (IP), 
  • -an advanced degree (Master, PhD, etc.) and 
  • -an interest in indigenous peoples and local community development and the relationship between IP and traditional knowledge, genetic resources and/or traditional cultural expressions.
  • the candidate should have excellent research and writing skills in English. Organizational skills and proficiency in Spanish would be added advantages.

Internship Benefits

Interns who are nationals of developing, least developed or transition countries are entitled to receive the reimbursement of travel expenses on recruitment and on separation from WIPO, up to a maximum of 1,500 Swiss francs for the round trip, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The intern must be residing in his or her home country at the time of recruitment; and
  • Travel must be by the most economical route and in economy class (if by train or airplane).
