Participation as Financial Information Providers in Account Aggregator framework (AUG 19, 2022)

The FIPs in the securities markets shall share the “Financial Information” pertaining to securities markets, through the AA only on receipt of a valid consent artefact from the customer through the Account Aggregator. The consent architecture is detailed under Clause 6 of the RBI Master Directions.

All responses of the FIPs in the securities markets shall be in real time.

This circular is issued in exercise of powers conferred under Section 11 (1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.

SUPREME COURT 

Serve notice to accused before enhancing sentence: Supreme Court to High Courts (AUG 19, 2022)

A bench of Justices B R Gavai and P S Narasimha set aside an order of the Rajasthan High Court which had awarded life term for the rest of their life to accused in a murder case.  

The apex court was hearing a plea filed by two accused challenging an order of the Rajasthan High Court which observed that the case against the present appellant fell within the category of 'rarest of the rare cases'.

Gold smuggling case: Kerala HC dismisses Swapna Suresh's plea to quash FIRs (AUG 19, 2022)

While dismissing the petition, Justice Zivad Rahman said that such criminal cases are dismissed without thinking about the right of the petitioner to challenge the report against him.

In June 2020, diplomatic baggage was detained by Customs officials at the Trivandrum International airport on the suspicion of smuggling. After opening the baggage, 30 kilograms of 24-carat gold worth Rs 14.82 crores was found which was later seized by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs at Thiruvananthapuram airport.  

Back in June 2020, the Indian officials had said that it was the first time in history that such a large-scale smuggling attempt happened under the name of a foreign nation's diplomatic office.

Cryptocurrency markets fall as European trading hours begin (AUG 19, 2022)

The overall market capitalisation of all cryptocurrencies dropped substantially during the opening of European trading hours, falling 3% to a low of $1.049 trillion, as reported by Cryptoslate.  

Bitcoin lost $22,000 as a result of its 6% negative decline.
