Supreme Court Judges (Amendment) Rules, 2022 (AUG 23, 2022)

Amendments include : 

  • A Chauffeur and secretarial assistant shall be deployed with a retired Chief Justice and a retired Judge of Supreme Court for a period of one year from the date of retirement.
  • A retired Chief Justice or retired Judges shall be entitled to a security cover round the clock at residence in addition to round the clock personal security guard for a period of one year from the date of retirement.
  • A retired Chief Justice shall be entitled to a rent free Type-VII accommodation at Delhi (other than the designated official residence) for a period of six month from the date of retirement.
  • A retired Chief Justice or a retired Judge shall be entitled to protocol to extend courtsies at ceremonial lounges at airports.

Overseas investment rules and regulations notified  (AUG 22, 2022)

In line with the amendment in the Foreign Exchange Management Act 2015, Outward Investments Rules have been framed by the Government of India in consultation with the Reserve Bank. 

Presently, the overseas investment by a person resident in India is governed by the Foreign Exchange Management (Transfer or Issue of Any Foreign Security) Regulations, 2004 and the Foreign Exchange Management (Acquisition and Transfer of Immovable Property Outside India) Regulations, 2015.

DELHI HIGH COURT 

"Muslim girl can marry without parents’ consent on attaining puberty": Delhi High Court (AUG 23, 2022)

The Delhi High Court ruled that a Muslim girl on attaining puberty “can marry without of her parents' consent” under Muslim laws and live with her husband even if she is a minor. 

Justice Jasmeet Singh made this observation in the case of a Muslim couple who married on March 11 against the wishes of the girl’s parents, where the man is 25 years old and the girl as per her family and police, was only 15 in March. But according to her Aadhaar card she is over 19 years old.
