About GIBS 

Gitarattan International Business School was established in the year 2004 under the aegis of Rohini Educational Society. The society is proudly running various other successful Institutions in Delhi like Gitarattan Institute of Advanced studies & Training, Gitarattan Jindal Public School & The Sovereign School. Gitarattan International Business School (GIBS) is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD and Government of India for technical programmes and Bar Council of India for Law programmes. The Institute is conducting programme like MBA, MBA (International Business), BBA (General), (Both First and Second shift), BA LLB and BBA LLB. GIBS is NAAC ‘A’ accredited Institute and has also been rated grade ‘A’ by academic audit cell of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University consistently from last five years. GIBS has been rated as A+ by state fee regulatory committee by Govt. of NCT of Delhi. And it has been awarded highest grading ‘A’ by joint inspection committee of Govt. of Delhi & GGSIPU. GIBS has been rated no. 2 by Times B School survey for 2018, 2019 & 2021 now. Centre for legal studies has been set up by Gitarattan International Business School in the year 2016 for imparting legal education. CLS-GIBS has been emerging as one of the prominent law schools of the country providing 5-year integrated programmes in BA LLB and BBA LLB. 

About Courtroom 

THE LAW SOCIETY OF CLS,GIBS The Law Society provides students with a more accurate depiction of the legal industry. Whether through Mentoring programs, Mooting, Negotiation exercises or Interview Workshops, members get the chance to develop soft skills to boost their employability. Aim of Law Society The COURT ROOM: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS is constituted for conducting and regulating the Moot Court, Debate, Youth Parliament and other activities in GIBS as per the Academic Calendar 2020-2021 of GIBS as well as to send representation on behalf of CLS, GIBS in the External Event. Objective of Law Society To train the students for various national and international competitions like Moot Courts, Debates, Youth Parliament etc. and also to represent the CLS, GIBS outside the college in various events and regulate the moot court, Debate, Youth Parliament and other activities hosted by CLS, GIBS. To promote opportunities for students to participate in various national/ international events and competitions and develop their skills in the field of Law which will further help them to groom themselves. 

About “JUSTITIA” 

The Virtual Lex Fiesta of CLS, GIBS Gitarattan International Business School is organizing its 1st Edition of Lex Fiesta from 26th to 29th October, 2021. The event is planned to widen the horizons of budding future legal professionals and to accommodate various events/ competitions. The aim of the event is to bring the academicians, practitioners and students of Law together in order to learn and share their knowledge. Further we are committed to actualize the potential of the participants. To enrich the experience of this festival, we are organizing the following events/ competitions:

EVENTS

Mediation Competition 

Alternate Dispute Resolution is one of the most important aspects of justice delivery in present day. Mediation forms one of the most crucial aspects of it. The competition seeks to simulate a bipartite mediation between teams based on some common facts and different confidential information privy to each side. In a mediation procedure, a neutral intermediary the mediator helps the parties to each a mutually satisfactory settlement of the dispute. Any settlement is recorded in an enforceable contract. 

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Mediation Competition in Collaboration with NORTH DELHI STATE LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY (DSLSA). 

 North Delhi State Legal Services Authority 

Delhi State Legal Services Authority erstwhile Delhi Legal Aid & Advice Board has been constituted by an Act of Parliament passed under “The Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987” as amended by Legal Services Authorities (Amendment) Act, 2002, to provide free and competent legal service to the weaker sections of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities, and to organize Lok Adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis of equal opportunity. The Central Office of Delhi State Legal Services Authority functions from the Pre-Fab Building, 1st Floor, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria 

 Students pursuing their full time 3-year or 5-year LLB program from a University or Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to apply. 

General Rules 

  • The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 20 Teams on first come first serve basis. 
  • A Team shall comprise of only 3 participants viz, Client, Counsel and Mediator. 
  • The Competition shall comprise of Qualifying Rounds and Advanced Rounds. 
  • The Qualifying Rounds shall consist of two Preliminary Rounds and the Advanced Rounds shall consist of Semi-Final Round and the Final Round. 
  • Last date to seek clarifications is 23rd October 2021 and release of such clarifications would be on 24th October 2021 via official email id of mediation@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form. 
  • The Mediation Problem for the Preliminary rounds will be provided through mail 3 days prior to the event.

Debate Competition

A Debate is a discussion or structured contest about an issue or a resolution. A formal debate involves two sides: “one supporting the resolution and one opposing it”. Such a debate is bound by the rules mentioned in the brochure. Debates may be 8 judged in order to declare a winning side. A team consists of two members. When the formal debate is finished, time will be given for rebuttal. A debate has been proved to be a great device in engaging students and enables them to voice their valuable views. The objective of this competition is to inculcate a healthy debate culture amongst students and contrive them to defend what they stand for. The Debate Competition aims to provide the students with an opportunity to come ahead learn and experience the art of debating.

  • There shall be two speakers from one team. 
  • Team shall decide Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. Speaker 1 will debate 'For the Motion' and speaker 2 will debate on 'Against the Motion'. 
  • The language for the debate competition shall be English only. 
  • Last date to seek clarifications is 15th October 2021 and release of such clarifications would be on 18th October 2021 via official email id of debate@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form.

Youth Parliament

The Youth Parliament Programme was introduced to enable the students to acquaint with the functioning of our Parliamentary institutions and stimulate them to reflect critically on national issues. The Youth Parliament is a not for profit, non political, support and learning community, committed to developing the uninhibited expression of young people with the aim of sustaining a platform that enables young people to be effective and expressive agents of change. Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Youth Parliament in Collaboration with THINK INDIA. 

Think India 

Think India is a student-led forum that endeavors to bind students with an Indic string in order to harness this part of our national treasure while also encouraging them to work for the cause of the nation. The forum facilitates opportunities for the youth and helps them in their overall development, thereby creating future leaders, entrepreneurs and change makers.Think India as a student run-organization runs 25+ forums that includes the International law Forum, Constitutional Law Forum, International Relations Forum, Debating Forum and many more. It holds its bi-yearly month long internship programmes under the names of Vidhi (legal), Niti (Public Policy), Sandiya (Member of Parliament Internship), Anubhooti (NGO Internship), Samvaad (Journalism Internship). 

Eligibility Criteria 

 Students pursuing any graduation programme from any recognized college/university may participate in the Youth Parliament. Law and Non-law students, all can participate. 

General Rules 

  • The Organizing Committee shall accept the registration of a maximum of 40 entries on first come first serve basis. There can be multiple entries from each college/institution. 
  • The Registration Fee is non-refundable. 
  • Anonymity is our priority, so the delegate must enter the meeting room with their respective portfolio names and not by their own names. 
  • Dress code should be Decent Business Formals or in accordance with the portfolio. 
  • The cameras of all the delegates must be switched on and the microphone must be muted unless EB allows. If there is any genuine reason for the cameras to be switched off, it should be prior intimated to the organizing team. 
  • English would be the official language for the purpose of drafting whereas for the oral proceedings, it stands bilingual. 
  • Last date to seek clarifications is 15th October 2021 and release of such clarifications would be on 18th October 2021 via official email id of youthparliament@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form.

Law Olympiad

It aims to make legal knowledge enriching for students. It will help to create awareness among the young students about the nuances of law. Also, it will help to identify the capability of a student and assess his/her potential to compete in today's world. It seeks to reward industry and excellence and also prepare the students to face the challenges ahead. This will be a diverting task for students which will encourage them to take a step ahead and read outside of the textbooks and delve into the intricacies of the issues facing the society help them to gain a better understanding of law. 

Courtroom: The Law Society of CLS, GIBS presents its Law Olympiad in Collaboration with PRATHAM PREP TEST.

Pratham Prep Test 

Pratham is an educational institute that remains adamant in emerging as one of the leading institutes, enhancing the budding youth into successful individuals. This extravagantly leading organization is simply an epitome of hard work, blended with aspiration and perseverance. It’s optimistic approach helps many achieve their career goals by brushing their strengths. the institute altogether has been embracing brilliance, knowledge and education that help students foster and discover their aptitude. Pratham directs students to cling on to these stimulating aptitudes, so that they can compete, excel and ace in number of entrance examinations, framing a bright picture of their future. 

Eligibility Criteria 

 Students pursuing their full time 3-year or 5-year LLB program from a University or Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to apply. 

General Rules 

  • There can be multiple entries from each college/institution. 
  • The competition shall comprise of 100 multiple choice questions. 
  • The competition shall comprise questions from Current Affairs, The Indian Contract Act, The Indian Constitution, The Criminal Law, The Family Law the Property Law and The Logical Reasoning. Certificate of participation will be issued to all the participants and top 2 winners will be awarded on the basis of the scaling provided in the rulebook. 
  • Last date to seek clarifications is 15th October 2021 and release of such clarifications would be on 18th October 2021 via official email id of lawolympiad@gitarattan.edu.in in a document form. 
  • Olympiad link will be provided to teams by official email of law Olympiad.
