About Christ (Deemed to be University)
CHRIST (Deemed to be University), a premier educational institution, is an academic fraternity of individuals dedicated to the motto of Excellence and Service. The University is a nurturing ground for individual holistic development to contribute to society in a dynamic environment effectively.
It was established as a college in July 1969 by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), founded by Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara. It was conferred the Deemed University Status in 2008 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has five campuses, three in Bengaluru and one in Pune and Delhi NCR (off campuses). Ranked as one of India's top and reputed multi-disciplinary universities, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore has been placed between 401-600 globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2020. As per the latest NIRF 2023 rankings, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) enters the list of top 100 universities in India and grabs the 67th position. The School of Law has secured the 16th position in the Law category, retaining itself in the top 20s. According to QS Rankings, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) ranks in the 601-650 band amongst top Asian universities.
About the School of Law
School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus, commenced its journey in 2019. It already has a proven history of success in the field of education. The School of Law offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs in Law as per the guidelines of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. It has a flexible curriculum offering several options in different areas of specialization, and the same is designed with the requirements of the legal profession and academia kept in mind. The academic programmes offered at School of Law incorporate special opportunities such as Internships, Legal Aid, Moot Court, Trial Advocacy, Client Counselling, Value-added Courses, Skill Enhancement Workshops and Career-Oriented Training with outcome-based legal education. About the Global Winter School on Sports Law and
Practice
This
intensive Global Winter School offers a comprehensive and critical examination
of the complex legal and regulatory landscape governing international sports.
The curriculum integrates foundational principles—from the Introduction to
Sports Law and Sports Contracts to the Legal Rights and Duties of
professionals—with cutting-edge contemporary issues. Participants will gain
multidisciplinary insights into the ethical, commercial, and governance
challenges shaping the future of global sports. The program emphasizes both
international perspectives and the specific legal context of India, culminating
in a detailed analysis of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.

Objectives
The program is designed to equip participants to critically analyze and understand:
- Regulatory Frameworks: The current state of Ethical Issues, Governance, Doping/Anti-Doping laws, and Civil/Criminal Liability in sports.
- Commercial & IP Dynamics: The legal dimensions of Sports Trade, Commerce, Intellectual Property, Antitrust, and Sports Tourism.
- Dispute Resolution: The application of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and International Arbitration in resolving sports-related conflicts.
- Social & National Justice: The importance of Gender Justice and Inclusivity, alongside an in-depth study of the new National Sports Governance Act, 2025 (INDIA).
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Winter School, participants will be able to:
- Enhanced understanding of the interplay between sports and legal frameworks of sports governance.
- Develop proficiency in drafting key documents, including Sports Contracts, Player Agreements, and intellectual property licenses relevant to sports trade and commerce.
- Critically evaluate policy and regulatory issues concerning Gambling and Betting, and the other legal framework surrounding Sports.
