ABOUT CIBS-NLUJ

The Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy Studies [CIBS], National Law University, Jodhpur, was established in August 2019 with the objective of pursuing and promoting innovative scholarship and research in insolvency and bankruptcy laws. CIBS has conducted three editions each of the CIBS-IBBI Intra-College Essay Writing Competition and the CIBS-IBBI Online Certificate Course. The previous edition of the Certificate Course saw 720+ active participants from over 105 institutions. In 2023, CIBS launched Solventia – Journal of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws (ISSN: 3139-6879; eISSN: 3108-2548), a bi-annual, double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to insolvency and bankruptcy scholarship. The CIBS Blog, launched in 2020, was rebranded as The Restructuring Ledger in 2024. The Centre has also published the edited volume Beyond the Code: Critical Perspectives on a Decade of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.


ABOUT THE COURSE

National Law University, Jodhpur, in collaboration with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), is organising the Fourth NLUJ-IBBI Online Certificate Course on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law, 2026 on the theme “Beyond a Decade: The IBC in Transition” from October 08-13, 2026. The six-day programme will examine the evolution of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code over the past decade and the reforms, institutional developments and emerging practices shaping its next phase. It will bring together policymakers, practitioners, regulators, insolvency professionals and academicians to provide participants with a practical and contemporary understanding of insolvency law.


COURSE FORMAT

Mode: Virtual via Cisco Webex
Schedule: Weekday sessions are ordinarily scheduled between 4:00 PM and 6:30/7:00 PM; weekend sessions run from approximately 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Final timings will be communicated to registered participants.
Total Number of Hours: Approximately 25 hours
Certifications: (1) Certificate of Participation, subject to attendance in at least 70% of all sessions; (2) Certificate of Merit, for securing a cumulative score of 75% or above in the two MCQ examinations.
Assessment: (1) Two time-bound MCQ examinations conducted virtually during the Course; and (2) an essay submission of not more than 1,500 words on themes provided by CIBS. The essays will be evaluated by a panel comprising internal and external professionals and experts. The five best-written essays may be considered for a publication opportunity with Solventia – Journal of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws (ISSN: 3139-6879; eISSN: 3108-2548), subject to the Journal’s editorial review and publication requirements.

The Course is designed for law students, recent graduates, young professionals, academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, insolvency professionals and others interested in insolvency and bankruptcy law. Eligibility Criteria for Availing Internship Opportunities

  • Individuals currently enrolled in undergraduate law programmes (Five-Year LL.B.) or
  • postgraduate law programmes (LL.M. or Three-Year LL.B.) at any Indian or international university; or
  • Individuals who have graduated from a law school with an LL.B. or LL.M. degree within the last one year (not before 2025) at any Indian or international university.
  • Every participant must necessarily be aged between 18 and 26 years. Please note that the eligibility criteria apply only to internship opportunities and do not restrict registration for the Course.
